Lesson 17: Adding Automation Using Actions - Part 3: Loads

Also, if you're working with actions a lot, it's likely you'll be downloading them from websites such as the Adobe Studio Exchange (http://share.studio.adobe.com). You'll need to know how to get those actions into Photoshop so that you can use them.

Step 1: Before you load an action, make sure you have an action to load. This could be an action that someone else has given you, one that you've saved and are relocating to another computer, or one that you've downloaded from the Web. Whatever the source, the action will be a file with a name and an ATN extension. Make sure that you have that action somewhere on your computer.

Step 2: To load the action in Photoshop, click the small, right-facing triangle at the top right of the Actions palette. From the flyout menu, choose Load Actions and you'll see the Load dialog appear.
Step 3: Locate the action file that you've previously saved or that someone else has given you. It should have an ATN file extension after the name. (Honestly, the only files that should even appear in this dialog have that extension after it, so you shouldn't have to worry.) Once you locate the action in the Load dialog, select it, and click Load to load it into the Actions palette.
Step 4: You should now see the action set in the Actions palette and if you expand the set, you'll see the action (or actions) that belong to that set. Now, you're free to use it just as you would any other action.

Step 1: Click once on the My Action set. Then click the small, right-facing triangle at the top right of the Actions palette. From the palette's flyout menu, choose Save Actions, and the Save dialog will appear.
Step 2: In the Save dialog, choose a location for the action. It's usually best to place them into the Photoshop Actions folder (in Adobe Photoshop CS2's Presets folder) with the other actions, but you can choose somewhere else if you'd like. Then click the Save button, and the action will be saved.
Step 3: To share this action with other people, just copy and provide the Sharpen Photos.atn file to whomever you're sharing the action with. They'll be able to load it right into Photoshop and use it the same way you did (see the Lesson 17: Part 3 to find out how).

Step 1: In Photoshop, open an image. For this tutorial, we're going to create an action that not only writes caption to a photo but will do that to other photos for you, as well. If you don't already see the Actions palette, open it by choosing Window>Actions
The Actions Palette
Step 2: Now, click the Create New Set icon at the bottom of the palette to create the folder for the action. The New Set dialog will appear. Here's where you can enter a descriptive name for your folder. For this example, call this folder My Action.
Step 3: Then, click the Create New Action icon at the bottom of the palette to begin creating a new action. The New Action dialog will appear. Here's where you can enter a descriptive name for your action. For this example, call this action Caption: My Dream Holiday.
Step 4: Choose which set you'd like to add this action to from the Set pop-up menu. A set is like a folder for actions, it helps keep them organized. You can just put this one into the My Action set that we have created before.
Step 5: Next, you can choose a function key to assign as a shortcut for your action. This will allow you to just press a single key to run your action, instead of always opening the Actions palette. Choose F12 from the Function Key pop-up menu for this action. Leave the Color setting to None, and click Record to start recording your action.
Step 6: You're now ready to start actually recording steps in the action. For this tutorial, type the caption: My Dream Holiday onto the image.
This is the example that i used. You can ignore this step by completing your editing work, before proceed to Step 7.
Step 7: Then, press the Stop Recording icon (it's the little square icon on the bottom left of the action palette) to stop recording the action.
Step 8: You can now open another photo and press F12 to run the action on it (remember, that was the shortcut key we assigned back in Step 5). Your photo will automatically get captioned using the same settings and you won't have to lift a finger (well, you'll only have to lift one finger).
If you do not want to use shortcut F12, use the Play button, bottom 3rd from left of the action palette

Checking the image size by using PHOTOSHOP
THE SOLUTION - by uploading pic @ Flickr.Com
Step 1:
Upload your photo at Flickr.Com
Step 2:
Use the option "See Different Sizes". There are LARGE, MEDIUM, SMALL, THUMBNAIL & SQUARE...note that LARGE is the actual size for the photo.
Step 3:
Copy the url and paste it at fotopages editing window (see previous Tutorial on how to do this).
Result...
Large: 800 x 600 (Actual Size)
Medium: 500 x 375
Small: 240 x 180
Small: 100 x 75
Square: 75 x 75

Step 1:
Upload the image(s). Double-click on the image to enlarge it. The enlarge-image will appear in new page.
Step 2:
Right click on the enlarge image. Go to "Copy Image Address". For some browser, you might have to choose "Copy Image Location." Then, paste the url between the code, as in figure above.
Step 3:
Tick the "delete box". Finally, save you work.
Result is shown below.

Lesson 14: Profile Image

Step 1: Upload the profile image at fotopages/ flickr.com / photobucket.com.
Step 2: Right click the image. Click "Copy Image Location"
Step 3: Paste the url between this code.

Step 4: Go to Settings > Profile > Tag
Step 5: Copy the whole code, then paste it into the tag box. Done !!!
